About My Business

My name is Tom Koenig and I now  live in St. Louis, MO. "She bitch of a
goat's gizzard" were my opening words and first voice acting experience from
"Skin of our Teeth", the High School play back in the 1960's.
After growing up in St. Louis and going to Mizzou (University of Missouri) in
Columbia, I was then in the Air Force, and spent time in Texas, Mississippi,
Vietnam and Georgia.  In those days you needed a 'First Phone
License' to do
anything around a radio or TV station, so I got one through
the Cleveland
Institute of Electronics. A "mid-west accent" later got me a voice over job at a
Georgia TV station. I then worked as announcer and video switcher at the NBC
TV station in Macon, GA during my last year in the service.  Upon return to
Columbia, MO, I started as announcer, switcher, photographer, engineer at the
ABC TV station there.  The
re I voiced a zillion 30 second local TV spots in the
Columbia - Jefferson City market ( '72 - '86 ).
This was a great 'gig' and ended
up being the
TV station manager (until it was sold).  For a while, I then
operated a Low-Power TV station in Columbia, for which I did most all of the
voice work.

Then I was in the two-way Trunked radio business that provided a
communications network for service vehicles and contractors in Central
Missouri.  This morphed into a cellular phone business that grew to where
until
2006,
I owned several Nextel sales offices in St. Louis, Jefferson City and
Columbia, MO.

This last year, in March 2007,  I completed a BA in Interdisciplinary
Studies from Columbia College.  I then studie
d and worked on voice overs at
"Voice Over St. Louis" at Clayton Studios, here in St. Louis.
Having worked on both sides of the desk, ad sales and ad buying, my heart
is into making a sale,
sell.  To get used cars off of the lot, to get furniture out of
the showroom and into the living room.
  H
aving owned my own business for the last 20 years. Of course I did the "on-
hold
" messages and on-hold music. In the course of business, I left thousands
of voice mail messages. I know and feel how important it is for employees to
understand a process or policy. I know how crucial it is for a business to move
inventory off of the floor or the shelf. I also know how communicating the right
"feeling" can make or break a campaign. I'd appreciate
the chance to work for
you.
I'll work hard to bring more in, and keep more of it.
